Calla Lily

History: These old fashioned perennials are native to South Africa. To a visitor of the South African Cape it is a common sight to see whole fields of these beautiful callas in bloom during summertime. Genus Zantedeschia is named in honor of the Italian physician and botanist Giovanni Zantedeschi (1773-1846). Calla Lilies were mentioned in an account of the Royal Garden in Paris in 1664. It was sent as one of the interesting plants of the Cape to Europe by Simon van der Stel.

Sizes & Colors: 4.5" & 6"/ White, Pink, Yellow, Purple

Care & Maintenance: INDOORS- Provide bright light and keep the plants at normal room temperature; temperatures above 70° are likely to curtail flower life and to make the leaves wither prematurely. Water completely, let plant dry between waterings. Use standard liquid fertilizer weekly during flowering. OUTDOORS- Plant in a sunny spot in well drained soil. In moderate climates this perennial bulb will sleep through winter and return fresh each spring.
