Daffodil
History: Also known as Jonquil or Narcissus, it is native to south and southwest Europe, the Mediterranean basin and central Asia. It is believed to have been brought to Britain by the Romans. Today, the daffodil is a symbol of rebirth, a sign of the new beginnings that come with spring. Indeed, the daffodil is the birthday flower for March, the month in which the spring equinox begins.

Care & Maintenance: OUTSIDE- Daffodils prefer a sunny or slightly shady spot in sandy soil. September is the best time to plant when temperatures are 50°F, but planting can continue into the fall. The depth of planting depends on the species or variety. Blooming begins when temperatures reach 60° to 70°F.
