Hyacinth

History: Native to the eastern Mediterranean, the fragrant Hyacinth blossom was once placed in the lily family, but is now regarded as the type genus of the family Hyacinthacae. Historically associated with seasonal rebirth originating from the ancient Greek myth of Hyacinth, Apollo and Zephyr the flower is widely used at the Vernal Equinox on the Persian New Year table.
