Chrysanthemum "Mum"

History: Chrysanthemums had been cultivated in Chinese gardens for more than 2,500 years before arriving in England in 1795. In China, the mum is a symbol of rest and ease following the season's final harvest. Brought by Buddhist monks to Japan in the year 400, mums were so loved by Japanese emperors that they sat upon chrysanthemum thrones. The orderly unfolding of the mum's petals is still considered a sign of perfection and a symbol of the sun.

Plant in a sunny location in fertile, well-drained soil.
